GEIPP Egypt Project Steering Committee – 4th Meeting

The Global Eco-industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP) – Egypt project held its 4th steering committee meeting on 13 December, 2023. The purpose of the bi-annual meeting was for the project team present to committee members the project’s progress from June to December 2023 and the workplan for from January 2024 to June 2024. This gave the members the opportunity to share their insights and strategic direction to the project.
The project steering committee is chaired by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and co-chaired by the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt. The meeting included the following keynotes:
- Mr. Amr Hazzaa, Advisor to the Minister and Head of Developmental Projects Unit – Ministry of Trade and Industry, Egypt
- Ms. Michal Harari, Deputy Head of International Cooperation – Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt
- Mr. Patrick Jean Gilabert, Representative – Regional Office Hub in Egypt, UNIDO.
“Our strategic objective, through technical cooperation, is to support developing and deploying new technologies and applying new ways of thinking. We may be seen as a platform for innovation, knowledge, and technology transfer, promoting business cooperation, technology, and investment to accelerate industrial sector development while reducing the environmental footprint of existing economic activities” said Mr. Patrick Gilabert during his opening remarks.
Following the opening remarks, Eng. Shahenaz Fouad, National Project Coordinator, UNIDO and Mr. Alessandro Flammini, Technical Lead and Project Coordinator, presented an Overview of the Project Progress, achieved impacts at the Industrial Parks and the Project Workplan. The presentation was followed by an open discussion and members were able to share their insights and recommendations.
