Workshop on Eco-Industrial Parks Policy Framework Development

Objective:

The objectives of the workshop are to 1) support the Policy makers in exploring options and international cases of industrial parks and their governance policies experience to be able to choose what is best for Egypt and develop EIP Policies, 2) Raise awareness of the environmental, economic and social benefits the of ecoindustrial parks (EIPs) as a motivation to the audience, 3) Raise the awareness of the participants to modern concepts and trends in industrial park management and industrial development, 4) Raise the awareness of the participants on Egypt EIP baseline, policies and practices, and 5) Develop capacity of the participants on policy design by introducing the key elements on EIP policy design.

 

Target audience:

The target participants are public and private entities involved in the development of policies related to industrial parks in Egypt, including Ministry of Trade and Industry: The Developmental Projects Unit (DPU), Minister’s Associate for Industrial Affairs and the Policy Unit, Industrial Development Authority (IDA) management, Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC), Egypt National Cleaner Production Centre (ENCPC), Egyptian Organization of Standardization (EoS), Ministry of International Cooperation (MOIC), Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MPED), Ministry of International Cooperation, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA), New and Urban Community Authority (NUCA), General Authority for Investments (GAFI), Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Industrial zones developers and operators, Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), FEI- Environmental Compliance and Sustainable Development Office (ECO), and Export Councils supporting the Egyptian industry as market enablers (Engineering Export Council of Egypt, Chemical Export Councils and Food Export Councils, etc.)
